Why a new skatepark?
We believe Frome needs a new skatepark that will benefit our whole community. We want a skatepark fit for generations to come. That means something that's well built and takes into consideration the needs of all genders, ages and abilities. A safe space to improve physical fitness, build confidence, teach resilience and increase self esteem.

Why is the existing one not good enough?
The Current skatepark we have is made up of prebuilt generic ramps that are not tailored to the needs of all the kinds of wheeled sports that want to use them. This means the skatepark lacks flow, excitement and different levels of expertise. Frome has many skatepark users which can lead to a very crowded space, along with the ramps being outdated and in need of repair this all increases the risk of injury.
How will this benefit the community?
Frome is a great place to live but has a lack of facilities for young people. Post pandemic research has shown how important the benefits to young peoples mental health are when they are able to have a place to socialise, be active and learn new skills. A new skatepark in Frome would do just this. It will encourage people of all ages and genders to participate and have fun. Providing these designated spaces for positive activities is one of the best ways to increase positive mental health and reduce anti-social behaviours amongst the young.
